The Holy Family Home Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization managed by the Congregation of the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family, a Congregation with Franciscan Amigonian Spirituality. — Taken from http://holyfamilyhome.org/
Since last year, my brother (together with his colleagues) have been very involved with this foundation. Here is a note he wrote for Sister Luz a couple of months ago as part of her presentation to their organization, before she left for her new journey in Sri Lanka.
OUR HAPPY PLACE
The Pursuit of Happyness
We live in a world where everyone is in pursuit of something – mostly of something greater than what they already have. Mostly it is about material things like the latest cellphone, a better car, the newest camera with the highest megapixel or even a job that pays more. Some even travel to distant lands and brave the loneliness to achieve these goals. Can’t blame them. We live in a society where the present economic order and expectations encourages… even demands such behaviour. We have become a generation of waiting for the next great thing and instant gratification is the rule of thumb. Ever wonder why Apple’s news conference to unveil their latest iPhone is such huge hit? This has resulted to our inability to enjoy what we already have.
This is why the Holy Family Home means so much to all of us. As much as people think we come here to help the girls and put smiles on their faces, they do the same for us, if not more. This is where the harsh realities of life are simply melted away by the warmest of smiles. A place where no one is watching and passing judgment even if they see right through us for who we are. A place where we are allowed to just be us and it allows us to put things in their proper perspective because no matter what “real world” problems we have, nothing compares to what these girls have gone through and if they can smile about life then we should too! Their love simply puts us on a roller coaster ride by keeping us grounded and on the highest of highs all at the same time.
This is a place where pretending is not accepted and the only currencies accepted are priceless… a tight hug, a warm smile, unguarded laughter and most importantly unconditional love.
The Holy Family Home Foundation to us is simply…. home.
I encourage you to find your home, a place where you can give part of yourself but, in return, gain way more. Of course, you are always welcome at our home.
