Find direction. Stay focused. Make Better Life Decisions.
The Discover Your Core Weekend promised to help participants achieve this in all aspects of their lives. If you have not heard of these five aspects they are Self, Family, Social Life, Academics/Work and Sense of Purpose. I will not expound on this further here but if you want to know more, feel free to send me a message or attend our monthly learning sessions.
We were a little late and so I was not able to really share my expectations from the weekend. I assumed from the discussion that we caught up on that this question was asked. That was probably a good thing since I would not really know what to say. Having attended (and conducted) many retreats, I did not really know what else I can expect.
I am glad I kept an open mind.
I learned new concepts and new tools that will allow me to keep centered. Tools that will help me remain calm amidst all the uncertainties and ambiguities that is happening. (Disclaimer: I will probably still have a hard time applying this when I am coaching basketball so please bear with me.)
I also had many realizations about myself and my (past) experiences. Realizations that allowed me to know myself more, and understand where some of my issues were coming from.
The tweet below was one of the first things I read coming out of that retreat.
Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. – George Bernard Shaw

It may seem to conflict with the idea of “Discovering” your Core but (you will know if you attend this workshop that) this actually summarizes the whole experience.
Discovering Your Core does not restrict you. Instead, it allows you to ground yourself as you move forward through life, creating a better life for you.

I purposely left out more details about the activities during the weekend. Because as much as I want to share about it, I feel that it is best experienced rather than read.
