Kapitolyo is a bit out of the way from us so, besides the food, I usually find another excuse to drive the distance which is what the value-for-money car wash at Charlie’s is good for.
However, since Alaine and I have eaten quite a few times at Charlie’s, we were actually planning to eat elsewhere while waiting for the car wash to finish. We actually started walking around but, unfortunately, the weather was not kind to us and so we ended up grabbing sitting around at Charlie’s. Since we had nothing better to do while waiting, we decided to grab an appetizer.
We ordered the Nuclear Chicken Wings but regretted it right away! Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed it but it just lacked the zing (or the heat!) that we were expecting. Anyway, we promised ourselves that we will return for the Punyeta version… and scream “Punyeta! Punyeta! Punyeta!” whether we find it hot enough or not.
After the car wash, we headed to a restaurant a couple of blocks down the road, which my brother recommended: Rub Ribs & BBQ.
Of course, we had a second round of appetizer. Hey! Don’t judge! What else where we supposed to do while waiting for the main course?
I liked the crispiness of their Onion rings. However, I did find their onion (as well as breading) to be on the thin side. Or maybe I am just unfairly comparing them to the more expensive Friday’s.
We loved it! It tasted soooo good… even without the sauce. The sides (we picked Mashed Potato, Fries and Bacon and Potato) can be improved but we didn’t care because these were just so yummy. The meat was really tender too, gently sliding off the bone.
Although we were already fully, we simply could not resist trying out their dessert.
A dessert with anything “fried” always gets my attention, and it was a good thing too because this was delish. I especially loved how the ice cream melted on the warm fried oreos. Unhealthy, maybe! Sinfully good, yes!
That wraps up our quick Kapitolyo food trip. I’m sure another one will be coming up soon.
