Another Do As I Say Moment

I Am Not A Role Model
I Am Not A Role Model

The last few seconds of last night’s game was yet another regrettable moment for me… another case of “Do As I Say, Not As I Do…

We were leading by a dozen with less than 30 seconds to go and I felt that the opponent was no longer out to try to win, but simply trying to hurt my teammates. One player in particular smacked my teammate right on his face during an inbound play and then, in the succeeding possession, stuck out his knee on a lay-up… then gave a smirk to his bench as if to say, “Gotcha!”

That’s when I snapped (I guess I really can’t take it when people mess with my friends). I wanted to beat the bloody hell out of that guy right there and then, but luckily for me, reason kicked in as my pasion was about to reach it’s maximum. Here’s how that dialogue went…

  • Passion: I wanna beat him up
  • Reason: You already won the game
  • Passion: I wanna beat him up
  • Reason: You don’t want to be suspended, there are more games to follow
  • Passion: I wanna beat him up

I guess it’s pretty obvious who won… so instead of a  brawl, it ended up in a “manly” exchange of words instead. (I know, I know… real tough right. Hahaha.)

No, it was not regrettable because of the way it ended… it was because it should not have started in the first place.
